Employability Practitioner
Level 4
An Employability Practitioner Assessment Organisation is an approved company responsible for providing apprenticeship assessments in the employability and careers support sector. As an assessment organisation, we ensure that apprentices meet the standards and competencies outlined in the relevant apprenticeship standard.
What the Role Entails
Employability Practitioners work with individuals who face challenges in accessing or sustaining employment. They support service users by helping them to address and overcome barriers — such as health issues, social or economic disadvantage, lack of skills, or long-term unemployment — in order to improve employability prospects, secure suitable work, or progress in employment.
Practitioners undertake holistic initial assessments, develop tailored action plans, deliver targeted interventions, and provide ongoing information, advice and guidance to service users and key stakeholders. This role often involves working collaboratively with multi-agency partners, signposting to relevant services, supporting job search and job brokerage, coaching and mentoring, and providing in-work support to help individuals stay and progress in employment.
Components of the Employability Practitioner Assessment
Knowledge Test
The apprentice completes a knowledge test designed to assess key factual and conceptual understanding relevant to the occupation.
The test can be computer based or paper based
and will consist of 40 questions. Apprentices must have a maximum of 120 minutes to complete the test.
The test is closed book which means that the apprentice cannot refer to reference books or materials.
Observation of Interventions with Service Users
Apprentices must be observed by an independent assessor completing work in their normal workplace,
in which they will demonstrate the KSBs assigned to this assessment method.
The observation should take 3 hour(s). The independent assessor can ask up to 6 questions with follow-up questions not exceeding 30 minutes.
Presentation Underpinned by Portfolio of Evidence and Research
Apprentices prepare and deliver a presentation titled “A Summary of Employability Practice, Using Evidence.” This presentation is based on work completed during the apprenticeship and is underpinned by a portfolio containing evidence that the apprentice has supported a minimum of four and a maximum of six service users from first engagement through to achievement of agreed action plan goals.
The presentation will typically last 90 minutes (60 minutes presentation plus 30 minutes questioning). The Independent End-Point Assessor will ask up to 6 questions for clarification or expansion.
