Early Intervention Practitioner
Level 4
An Early Intervention Practitioner Apprenticeship Assessment Organisation is an approved company that is responsible for providing assessments for apprenticeships in the Early Intervention field. As an Assessment Organisation in this sector, we will ensure that apprentices meet the required standards and competencies outlined in the relevant apprenticeship standards.
What the Role Entails
The role of an Early Intervention Practitioner is to provide timely, person-centred support to individuals and families in order to prevent needs from escalating. They identify emerging concerns, assess risks, and plan interventions that promote positive outcomes. Early Intervention Practitioners work closely with children, young people, and adults, as well as parents, carers, and professionals across health, education, social care, and voluntary services. Their role requires building trusted relationships, coordinating multi-agency support, and applying evidence-based approaches to help people overcome challenges and achieve sustainable improvements in their lives.
Components of the Early Intervention Practitioner Assessment
Order of Assessment Methods
The assessment methods can be delivered in any order. The result of one assessment method does not need to be known before starting the next.
Performance in the Assessments determines the overall grade of:
• Fail
• Pass
• Merit
• Distinction
Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
In the professional discussion, the independent assessor and apprentice have a formal two-way conversation. It gives the apprentice the opportunity to demonstrate the KSBs mapped to this assessment method.
The professional discussion must last for 60 minutes. The independent assessor can increase the time of the professional discussion by up to 10%. This time is to allow the apprentice to respond to a question if necessary.
The independent assessor must ask at least 10 questions. Follow-up questions are allowed where clarification is required.
Presentation with questions and answers
In the presentation with questions, the apprentice delivers a presentation to an independent assessor on a subject. The independent assessor must ask questions after the presentation. It gives the apprentice the opportunity to demonstrate the KSBs mapped to this assessment method.
The presentation and questions will last 45 minutes plus 10% (at the discretion of the independent assessor) if required. The presentation will typically last for 30 minutes and the questioning will typically last for 15 minutes in order to provide scope for the apprentice to demonstrate their full competence. The independent assessor will ask at least 4 questions.
