Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner
Level 4
A Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Practitioner Assessment Organisation is an approved company that is responsible for providing assessments for apprenticeships in this field. As an Assessment Organisation for Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Practitioner, we will ensure that apprentices meet the required standards and competencies outlined in the relevant apprenticeship standards.
What the Role Entails
This is not a routine office job; the Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Practitioners (CR&S Practitioners) will typically be working on multiple initiatives covering a variety of geographies, focus areas, and stakeholders. CR&S Practitioners are found in the public, private or third sectors, in all industries. They are increasingly a key component of virtually all types of business models where profit and growth are a means to an even greater end, such as protecting the environment and improving societal sustainability. Their broad purpose is to be a social conscience for the organisation, innovating and embedding initiatives for social and environmental change, across the organisation
Components of the Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner Assessment
Order of Assessment Methods
The assessment methods can be delivered in any order. The result of one assessment method does not need to be known before starting the next.
Performance in the Assessments determines the overall grade of:
• Fail
• Pass
• Distinction
Work-based project followed by a report
and a presentation with questions and answers
The project report is compiled and delivered after the apprentice has gone through the gateway and completed the work-based project. The work-based project should be designed to ensure that the apprentice’s work meets the needs of the CR&S employer, is relevant to their role and allows the relevant KSBs to be demonstrated for the EPA.
The project report will have a word limit of 5,000 words, with a tolerance of +/-10% (at the discretion of the apprentice). Appendices, references, diagrams etc. will not be included in this total, but these must not exceed 1,500 words.
The presentation with questions and answers component of the assessment method will last for a total of 45 minutes (20 minutes presentation and 25 minutes of questioning).
Professional Discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
A professional discussion is a two-way discussion which involves both the independent assessor and the apprentice actively listening and participating in a formal conversation. It gives the apprentice the opportunity to make detailed and proactive contributions to confirm their competency across the KSBs mapped to this method.
The professional discussion must last for 60 minutes. The independent assessor has the discretion to
increase the time of the professional discussion by up to 10% to allow the apprentice to complete their last answer.
The independent assessor will ask a minimum of 10 questions.
