Adult Care Worker

Level 2

An Adult Care Worker Assessment Organisation is an approved company that is responsible for providing assessments for apprenticeships in the field of Adult Care. As an assessment organisation in the Adult Care sector, we will ensure that apprentices meet the required standards and competencies outlined in the relevant apprenticeship standards.

What the Role Entails

Adult Care Workers need to have the right values and behaviours developing competences and skills to provide high quality compassionate care and support. They are the frontline staff who help adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives which is at the heart of person centred care. Adult Care Workers may work in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres, a person’s own home or some clinical healthcare settings

Components of the Adult Care Worker Assessment

Situational Judgment Test

The test will be in the form of real life scenario-based multiple choice questions that align with the standard’s knowledge and skills requirements. The MCQ test is graded as Fail, Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Order of Assessment Methods

Candidates can only apply to undertake the Professional Discussion component once the multiple choice assessment has been achieved

Performance in the Assessments determines the overall grade of:
• Fail
• Pass
• Merit
• Distinction

Professional discussion

The discussion will draw questions and amplifications from prior learning and experience including, where applicable, the candidate’s self-assessment and supporting evidence including testimony from users of services and a sample of standardised candidate questions asked of every apprentice candidate in the interview. The professional discussion is graded as Fail, Pass, Merit or Distinction.
